ExpectationsMet: Meet the Founder
Scroll down to read or listen to find out about Kirstine and her journey 🤗

Hey There 👋
I'm Kirstine (curse-teen) Boyd, my pronouns are she/her. I love learning new things. I’ll give anything a go - from flying planes, to acting classes to literally being a clown at a soft play area. Life has been a bit of a wild ride, and I’ve recently gone from just surviving in a world in which I’ve never felt like I belonged to actually living in it and dare I say - thriving.
The reason for this change is that in 2023, I received a diagnosis that shed light on an essential aspect of who I am: I am Autistic. I always have been. I experience the world differently and I’m changing my world so that I do feel a sense of belonging. I am aware that there will be many more obstacles and I am now ready to take them on. This newfound understanding has fuelled my determination to champion inclusivity and advocate for those who, like myself are navigating a world that just isn't built for them.

As mentioned - neurodivergent individuals are living in a world that just isn’t built for us. We shouldn’t have to “fit in”, wearing a mask is exhausting - it’s time to change the environment so that we can be our authentic self. As Einstein (or so they say) said “Everybody is a Genius. But If You Judge a Fish by Its Ability to Climb a Tree, It Will Live Its Whole Life Believing that It is Stupid”. I personally like “If you judge a penguin by its ability to fly, it will live its whole life believing that it doesn't belong” because well, I love birds. Anyway, back to Einstein… It’s not about us trying harder to climb that tree than others, it’s about ensuring that the tree gets moved into the water, so that we can consistently access the tree with as much ease as neurotypical individuals. Whether that be through setting boundaries and expectations, or educating the people around us on how to create that environment.
Professionally, I started my career as a software engineer, I enjoyed it, but I felt that I could do more in empowering others to write good code than expending much more energy in writing it myself. From this I moved into management, and I haven’t looked back since. Being able to help people reach their goals in a way they enjoy is something that I enjoy doing, it’s a win-win really.

Starting ExpectationsMet will allow me to do this on my terms, no need for accommodations as I will oversee my own working environment. There are scary and very exciting times ahead. At ExpectationsMet I’m dedicated to unlocking success - whatever that means for the individual - through mutual understanding.

Through ExpectationsMet I will offer various services including Neurodiversity Consulting, Training & Coaching, for both organisations and individuals. This is something I have lived experience of, and I where I believe I can make the most impact.
In my personal life, I love my family, who support me every day. A special shout out to Caleb, my fiancé who has been my safe harbour in the stormy sea that is life. I also have 2 little cat snakes, or ferrets as you may call them, Freya and Frodo. I absolutely love all things Tolkien since picking up the Two Towers at age 7 in my Uncles study absolutely adamant that I did not need to read The Fellowship and then promptly returning to ask for The Fellowship. I'm fascinated by bees and birds, when I see them in out and about, I stop and enjoy them, kinda like the dog from Up and squirrels if you know what I'm talking about. Also, Stargazing is one of my favourite things to do. There's lots more to me, but the final thing I'll add is the hum of a Harley, when I hear that it genuinely fills me with so much joy, that in that moment, nothing else matters.
In everything I do, from my personal passions to my professional pursuits, my mission remains the same: to make someone else’s day a little bit better.
